Hospital & Home Visits

Bedside and at-home signings for patients and families — handled gently, coordinated with the facility

Quick Answer

The documents that matter most — a healthcare power of attorney, an advance directive, a financial POA, a will — are often needed exactly when traveling to a notary is impossible. Ronit performs signings at hospital bedsides, rehabilitation and nursing facilities, hospice settings and private homes across the region, coordinating quietly with family members and facility staff so the appointment is calm, private and correctly done.

Two things are arranged with special care. First, timing: hospital signings are booked around treatment and visiting realities, including evenings and weekends. Second, capacity: the signer must be alert enough to communicate that they understand the document and want to sign — a requirement of law that protects the signer. When family members call first, we talk honestly about what to expect and what identification or witnesses to arrange.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the patient cannot physically sign?

Maryland law provides options in some circumstances — for example, signing by mark, or another person signing at the signer's direction in the notary's presence. Call first, describe the situation honestly, and we will tell you which route the law allows before anyone travels.

What if the patient has no photo ID with them?

Hospitals rarely hold a patient's wallet. Maryland law also recognizes identification through a credible witness who knows the signer. When you book, tell us what ID exists and we will plan the lawful alternative in advance.

Does the hospital or facility need to approve the visit?

Facilities set their own visiting rules, and some units restrict visitors at certain hours. Families usually clear the visit with the nursing station first; we coordinate timing with you so the signing fits the facility's routine.
